WELKS 2009 Judged by Mr E Paterson

My concerns were narrow fronts & light eyes which were quite prevalent & not only in blacks. That said overall I found some quality animals & was pleased with my winners.

MPD (4)

1 Burrows' Daedalus Deacon Blue at Shacarlu,
raw puppy, showing lots of promise, bold spotting, good pigmentation, dark eyes & good bone, moved well for a lady, should do well;
2 Corcoran's Dalmark The Sandwizard, taller liver of quality, liked his overall balance, nice head & outlook, good front extension. Not quite so positive behind but only a baby;
3 Croft's Doubtwell Show Stopper.

PD (4)

1 Christie's Sophtspot Abracadabra,
one I have judged before & he continues to develop well. Very elegant yet masculine, liked his head & eye, good front & feet, body firm & he goes well. BP;
2 Goodswen's Tamilanda Pink Vigilante from Alphadal,
more compact youngster, liked his overall balance & scores in front assembly. Inclined to lose his topline on the move but this should improve with age;
3 Pascoe's Candidate The Fire Starter.

JD (11,1 a)

A good class which augurs well for the future.
1 Beaumont & Croft's Koroyza Candy Man, I liked this dog a lot, loved his head & eye, excellent neck & shoulder, very good front assembly, good body, topline & quarters, steady mover. Still raw but must have a bright future;
2 Hernandez's Dalminshi Star Gazer, good black, overall balance is first rate, well marked, good pigmentation, good in head & eye, clean shoulders. Not quite so positive as I but will steady with maturity;
3 McCarthy's Kilndandy Old Copper.

YD (2)

looked realty well, has shed a few pounds & looks cleaner over the withers. Love his head & expression, good front, bone & feet, well made right through, strong powerful mover. RCC;
2 Edens' Dupree Lad at Dalens,
old fashioned spotting on this liver but he scores for elegance, good eye & overall colour. Steady on the move.

1 Oatridge's Dalehouse Chatanooga,
good for size & shown in good muscular condition, liked his balance, bone & feet, nice shoulders & quarters, steady mover;
2 Law-Gleen's Jabbawock Kwickspell, good for size.Would prefer more balance to his head & stronger hind action. Very good front extension.

1 Kazana's Dalzana King of Joppa,
good overall balance to this male, clear spotting, very good bone & feet, excellent toptine & tailset, outmoved the others here;

3 Beaumont & Croft's Koroyza Grippi II Miracolo.

OD (7,2)

a real headache! Standing I love this dog. He has a lovely head, clean through the shoulders, good front & feet. Body is firm & well put together. Just would not move out particularly behind;
2 Petersen's Ch Buffrey Beau Bell at Daedalus, bold black spotting, looking good, good head, excellent pigmentation, good on the move. Not as stylish as 1;
3 Lewis' Man About Town at Hunterswood.

very pretty compact baby, balanced in head, dark eyes, nicely spotted & OK on the move when settled.Tail needs to settle a little;

elegant black who scores for overall balance. Looks good in profile stacked & on the move, feminine head & expression, good spotting & good on the move;

1 Clarke's Klarkeson Royal Destiny,

GB (8,1)

1 Pickup's Roadcoach Ribbons And Roses,
strong bold black, plenty to like about her, good head & eye, excellent bone & feet, lovely outline stacked & on the move. Lost out in the challenge as she did not put all in on the move;
2 Stirling's Let It Shine Lilo, shade bigger overall & perhaps not so feminine in outlook. Loss of a few pounds would improve her outlook & balance. Steady on the move;
3 Boden's Dalmark The Blue Moon.

PGB (7,2)

1 Cooper's, Caldecacre Couronne,
very smart black, lovely head & eye, excellent front assembly, good body properties in well marked shape, firm topline & strong quarters. She needs to shed a few pounds & a little firmer handling on the move & she will trouble the best. RCC .in strong company;
2 Lamb's Dalpetro Desdemona, black litter sister to DCC & very similar in many ways. Just a little lacklustre on the move. Gives you the impression she doesn't really want to be here;
3 D The Blue Moon.

LB (14,4)

1 Harrison-Stratford's Dalkereve Dark N Divine,
have always liked this bitch, scores in head & balance, beautifully spotted, excellent balance, firm body, quarters & topline. Did enough to win the class but didn't want to know in the challenge;

OB (15,4)

1 Dunnachie's Ch Dvojica Voodoo,
black of quality. Not my favourite Dalmatian but here she could not be denied, she didn't put a foot wrong. Looks better after her litter as has more substance. So good on the move which took her to CC, BOB, G I & RBIS;
2 Fort's Lady Of Light from Shulune,
taller black, scores in head & eye, good front assembly & body properties. Overawed by the presence of 1 who is so hard to overlook;
3 Neath-Duggan's Ch Buffrey Sprig 0 Mint.
