W E L K S 2008 Judged by Ann Arch

My thanks for the superb entry with such pleasing temperaments. There was a great range of type, to my eye, as a non-specialist. The most notable being feet. Too many were slack and with spread toes, many of which needed to be clipped at the nail. As in all breeds there were some shoulders which were either upright or lacking in both length and angulation on upper arm. The Standard is quite specific on proportions, but quite a few were rather unbalanced on profile viewing. Was a little surprised to find (only a few) rather pointed muzzles, something I don't recall from the past.
I hoped to locate stock which was able to do the task it was meant for and on seeing the class winners competing for the CC's was gratified. The main depth in my view, was in the two senior bitch classes. With such a good entry I was able to pick out many whose comments may appear almost identical.
